NYU makes your summer in New York easy. No need to find a roommate, order furniture, or set up a router - just register for the type of room you prefer and we’ll take care of the rest.
If you are participating in a conference or are enrolled in an NYU summer program for high school students, you do not need to follow the instructions below; instead, you should register for housing directly with your program.
Create an NYU ID
- Create a new NYU account or reactivate an existing one by completing the NYU ID Creation form (link will be available in December). You should receive your account information via email within 2-3 business days. What if I already have an NYU ID number? Unless you are enrolled in a degree-granting NYU program this summer or in the next academic year, you will still need to submit the form to expand or reinstate your access to NYU services (recommended: test access to NYU Albert opens in a new window). Your existing NYU ID number will remain the same.
- Visit NYU Start opens in a new window to set your password and set up your security questions.
Register for Housing
- Go to the NYU Housing Portal opens in a new window and click Access Application. If you are unable to sign in, please allow up to 48 hours for your access to the housing portal to be authorized and try again.
- Click the green Register for Summer button to begin your registration forms
- E-sign the Summer Housing License
- Select your affiliation status, residence hall, and room type
- Request a roommate pairing (optional)
- Join a Group Housing Block, if applicable - instructions provided by your group or organization. If you have not yet received instructions from your organization, please wait to register
- Submit a $500 reservation payment within one week
Make your Payment
All payments to NYU including housing charges are processed through the Office of the Bursar, so each summer housing resident is assigned an NYU Bursar account. You can view your Bursar account opens in a new window at any time. A $500 reservation payment is due upon registration and full payment is due in May 2024.
Submitting the Reservation Payment

*Having trouble accessing Albert? Non-NYU students who were issued NYU ID numbers in a prior year still need to fill out the ID Creation form to have their access to Albert and other services reactivated. NYU ID numbers will not change as a result, but processing time may take 2-3 days.
