NYU Summer Housing offers 1-13 week reservations to programs with at least 10 group participants, all of whom meet our eligibility criteria. Reservations begin on Sundays and end on Saturdays within our Summer dates.
Housing information for students opens in a new window is available on the high school programs website.
How it Works
Creating a group reservation holds a given number of bed spaces in close proximity within a residence hall for your program. Students claim one of the reserved bed spaces by signing the housing license in Slate before the program's housing opt-in deadline. After the housing opt-in deadline, NYU Housing will run a report of students in your program who signed the housing license and make bookings for them. NYU Housing will then share a roster of your students' bookings and email check-in instructions to students prior to their arrival on campus.
Eligibility Requirements
High School Groups must be affiliated with NYU and organized by University Programs. All participants must be at least 15 years of age before the start of their housing reservation. Staff and participants over the age of 18 will be housed separately in a nearby residence hall.
Weekly Rates & Payment Options
Bookings in a group reservation are charged at a weekly rate. NYU can apply housing charges to each participant's NYU account or the sponsoring organization can opt to be billed directly.
All High School Program participants will be placed in traditional-style shared suites in either Manhattan or Brooklyn. All participants will also be automatically enrolled in a meal plan at an additional charge.

Adjusting Group Size
Coordinators can reduce the number of bed spaces reserved for their group without penalty through March 31st, 2025. If less than 90% of reserved bed spaces are ultimately used by group participants, the group will incur cancellation fees of $500 per unclaimed bed space.
If group participants are responsible for their own summer housing charges, once an individual registers for housing as part of the group, they take responsibility for the cancellation fees for their bed space. Thus, if a group participant registers for housing and later cancels, the $500 cancellation fee is the responsibility of the individual rather than the sponsoring NYU department, office, or school.
Requests to increase the number of bed spaces in a group reservation may be approved on a case-by-case basis according to availability at the time of request. Please note that additional bed spaces may not be available in close proximity to the rest of the group.
Process Lifecycle
Process Lifecycle
-
NOVEMBER/DECEMBER
An NYU program creates a group housing request and receives an automatic summary of request form responses. NYU Housing and the program correspond about any questions or concerns regarding the group reservation.
-
JANUARY
NYU Housing creates an official email thread for the group, delivering the group housing license and a confirmation document detailing the reservation (hall placement, rates, deadlines, etc.). The program requests any changes and Housing provides written confirmation of any adjustments to the reservation details.
-
FEBRUARY
The program signs and returns both the confirmation document and the group housing license. Housing sends a reminder that the last day to adjust the estimated count of participants in housing groups is March 31st (fee policy listed above).
-
MAY OR JUNE
Housing runs a report of students in the program who signed the housing license (for groups arriving on or before July 1st on May 1st; for groups arriving after July 1st on June 1st) and begins to make room assignments.
-
NEXT FEW WEEKS
Housing finalizes room assignments and shares a roster of bookings to the program. Housing sends pre-arrival notices, which include room assignments and arrival instructions, to all group participants. Group participants who are responsible for their own summer charges see housing charges assessed to their NYU Bursar accounts.
-
SUMMER
The group participants arrive on campus and enjoy their stay at NYU.
-
END OF RESERVATION
NYU sends group participants departure instructions via email. Group participants depart NYU.
-
POST DEPARTURE
NYU sends invoices to the groups covering their participants’ summer charges. The programs which received summer housing invoices remit payment.
-
POST SUMMER
NYU sends a closing message and program coordinators share any feedback.
