What to Bring
Furnishings
All residents are provided with an extra-long twin size bed/mattress, desk, desk chair and dresser/wardrobe. Additional furniture may not be brought into the residence halls.
Items to bring
Residents must provide their own bed sheets, blankets, pillows and towels. Residents are encouraged to bring a desk or floor lamp to supplement in-room lighting, which is limited.
Residents assigned to an apartment-style hall must provide their own cooking and eating utensils.
Residents assigned to a non-air-conditioned residence hall may bring a fan. Air-conditioning and air-cooling units may not be brought into NYU residence halls.
The following items are not permitted
- Halogen lamps
- Hot plates or other open flame/heating coil devices
- Air-conditioners or air-coolers (this applies to all halls, including Rubin Hall, which is not air-conditioned)
- Candles or incense
- Firearms, ammunition, or other weapons
- Drugs and other controlled substances without prescription
- Additional furniture
- Pets
