Changing Reservation Dates

Date Change Request Form

Date change requests must be received at least seven (7) days prior to the beginning of the earliest week that is being added or removed from the existing reservation. All requests to reduce a reservation (and have charges removed for those weeks) must be submitted at least one full week prior to the earliest week being removed from the reservation. Failure to provide at least one week's notice will result in the resident being charged in full for that week.

Students checking in for Summer Session II (July 7 - August 17) are ineligible for refunds or prorated weeks due to late check ins or early check outs. Housing assignments will be charged for the full six-week session, even if actual dates of stay are less than six weeks.

All requests to extend a reservation are subject to availability and approved requests require the resident to remit full payment for the additional weeks being added to the reservation within one week of the change.

Checking out of the residence hall prior to the scheduled departure date does not constitute official notification of a change in departure date. All such requests must be made following the procedures described here.

Changing Your Meal Plan

All residents assigned to a traditional residence hall will be assigned to the 8 meal plan (8 meals and $30 Dining Dollars per week). Residents assigned to a traditional hall must maintain a meal plan.

Changes and cancellations are effective the first Sunday following the date the request is received.

Your NYUCard (photo ID) serves as your meal card. Meals missed because of delays in obtaining your NYUCard are not refundable.

Requesting an Assignment Change

Please submit room change request if you would like to request a reassignment within your assigned residence hall to a different room type or to a new residence hall. You are responsible for understanding how a room change will affect your rates and meal plan requirements.

Single bedrooms are very limited. We do not have wait-lists for buildings or specific room types. Requests for specific room configurations (such as corner rooms or rooms with en-suite bathrooms) will not be reviewed.

Changing Your Affiliation Status

Some residence halls are only available to individuals enrolled for summer coursework at NYU, participating in an NYU sponsored program, or working for an NYU department. If an applicant’s affiliation status changes due to enrollment in a course, participation in an NYU program, or commencement of work for an NYU department, the applicant should contact housing@nyu.edu to request an assignment change or updated application preferences. Relevant program or course dates must be more or less concurrent with the housing reservation dates.
